Eyelash Extensions

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a synthetic fibre attached to the natural lash to enhance length, curl, thickness & the darkness of the lash line. Each natural lash is meticulously isolated with just the right amount of adhesive to ensure lash health. Our clients love getting extensions for holidays, special occasions or just to enhance their everyday appearance. Each set can be customised with a range of lengths, curls & thicknesses that can be used to create a bespoke look.

Do Eyelash Extensions hurt?

No, eyelash extensions should never hurt when applied correctly. Afterwards your extensions should feel light. You might almost forget they are there, so be careful not to rub your eyes!

If you have had extensions applied elsewhere and are experiencing irritation or pain, this can be an indication that something is wrong.  Please get in contact with us and book in for a safe eyelash extension removal. Never attempt to remove eyelash extensions at home, you will cause damage to the lash line. Despite what you may have heard, using coconut oil is not and effective method remove extensions, so please don't try it!

How long does it take to have extensions applied?

Our appointments range in time, so they can suit anyone's schedule. We have appointments starting at 1 hour for our hand-made 'Classics', or for a more luxurious look, 2.5 hours for our crafted Russian Volume set. We never rush our sets to ensure that we can give you the best results possible.

How long will eyelash extensions last?

You can expect your extensions to last anywhere between 4 and 6 weeks when the correct aftercare is followed. How long your extensions last is 50% up to your lash stylist and 50% up to you. If you do not follow the correct after-care instructions, you will not get the same retention as someone who does.

In-fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to keep your lashes looking full and glamorous. Please note, we don't in-fill past the 21 days after your full set; after this time it will be classified as a full set. To avoid disappointment, please book your appointment in advance to secure your preferred time slot as appointments are limited.

What is the difference between Classic Extensions & Russian Volume?

The difference is the number of Eyelash Extensions that are applied to each of your natural lashes. Classic sets have one Eyelash Extension applied to one natural lash; whereas Russian Volume Eyelash Extensions will have multiple lighter and finer eyelash extensions applied to each natural lash in a carefully crafted and applied fan shape.

How do I remove my Eyelash Extensions?

To remove your Eyelash Extensions please book in for a professional and safe eyelash extension removal. A highly effective gel is applied to the lashes (no oils) breaking down the lash adhesive quickly. A professional removal is safe and pain-free. If your Eyelash Extensions have been applied elsewhere, we cannot guarantee how long it may take to remove them.

For your own safety, do not attempt to remove your extensions yourself. Removing your Extensions by yourself can result in you damaging your own natural lashes. In severe cases your lashes can take 8+ weeks to recover.

What happens if my Eyelash Extensions get wet?

You should not get your eyelash extensions wet in the first 24 hours after your appointment, as the extensions need that time to properly cure and finish.

After 24 hours we recommend that you clean your lashes with the lash cleanser approved by your lash stylist (you can purchase in studio). Cleansing will do two things for you: it will help improve your retention, as well as keep your eye and lash area hygienic.

Cleansing your lashes with an approved lash cleanser is a recommended part of your extension aftercare. Cleansing will remove any build-up around the lash line caused by makeup, oil, dirt and dead skin. If left uncleaned, build-up could lead to eye irritation and in rare cases infection and conditions such as blepharitis.

What should I do before my first Eyelash appointment?

Doing your research when it comes to choosing your lash stylist is paramount. Unfortunately the beauty industry is highly unregulated, which means that you don't have to even be certified to apply Eyelash Extensions. This is why you may have heard a horror story or two about eyelash extensions.

When choosing a lash stylist, consider if they are certified, how many certificates they have, how much experience they have, and lastly consider your budget. We recommend not basing your decision solely on price, as in this industry you often get what you pay for.

Once you've your appointment, look through our gallery to get a general idea of what you would like. It's okay if you're not sure, our lash stylists are happy to help you. Book one of our consultations and we will take you through your options.

For your appointment, please arrive early and with recently cleansed lashes, and please don't wear any eye make up.

Is there aftercare involved with having Eyelash Extensions applied? If so what is it?

If you want long lasting results and to keep your natural lashes healthy, you must follow all eyelash extension aftercare:

  1. Don't get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours.

  2. No picking or rubbing your lashes.

  3. Brush your lashes twice a day; this helps keep them look luxurious and neat.

  4. Cleanse your lashes daily with a lash cleanser approved by your stylist.

  5. No oil-based products on or near your lashes; that means, no mascara, pencil or gel liner. Also, check your facial products are oil free.

  6. Sleep on your back or if you're a side-sleeper, we recommend investing in a silk pillowslip and eye mask to ensure even lash loss.

  7. Booking your in-fills in advance is a must; please note that we do not infill past the 21 day mark.

Are Eyelash Extensions safe?

Eyelash Extensions are safe when applied by a skilled stylist with reputable products. Your lash stylist will always take into consideration your wishes, but our first priority is keeping your natural lashes healthy. Incorrectly applying Eyelash Extensions will do damage to your lash line. Here at Authentica Australia, Brisbane's No.1 leading Lash & Brow Salon, we will always carefully and skilfully apply extensions that are safe.

In extremely rare cases, people have been known to react to the adhesive used to apply the extensions so please let us know in advance if you have any allergies.

If you haven't had extensions with us before, we always recommend that you book in for a complimentary patch test to check for any allergic reaction to the adhesive. Please note that we are not medically qualified to diagnose or treat an allergic reaction to adhesive. In the event you develop a reaction, please consult your doctor.

Yumi Lash Lifts

What is a Yumi Lash Lift?

Created in France, Yumi lifts and curls natural lashes directly from the root, giving you the look of naturally longer and healthier lashes. Results vary person to person, but we have found even the shortest lashes can receive a noticeable result.

The Yumi Lash Lift differs from other perms/lifts on the market, as the treatment provides both a visible result and also nourishes the lash. Yumi uses Keratin and Panthenol (B5) to strengthen the lashes and keep them healthy. Treatment processing times are slower compared to standard lash perms, which means your natural lashes wont be over-processed.

How long does a Yumi Lash Lift last?

Results are dependent on your natural lash-cycle. Typically you can expect results to last anywhere between 6-12 weeks but if your natural lash-cycle is shorter you may need to come in more regularly. We recommend Yumi Lash Lifts be booked in every 8 weeks with lash tints in between to keep your lashes looking their best. This treatment is a great low maintenance option.

Is there any aftercare involved?

Aftercare is minimal but is important to get the best results from your lash lift. Ensure your lashes don't come into contact with any water in the first 24 hours (no steam or swimming). No fiddling with your lashes in the first 24 hours as they are still malleable. Keep your lashes healthy and strengthen them with Yumi Nourish aftercare, which also helps stimulate eyelash growth. Yumi Nourish aftercare will keep your lash hair conditioned, moisturised and hydrated with Keratin, B5, and other essential oils.

Can I wear mascara?

You can wear mascara with this treatment. Yumi has a luxurious make-up mascara that works perfectly with this treatment. The mascara helps to enhance the results by providing extra lift, length & thickness, giving you the effect of Extensions with your natural lashes.

Can I use my eyelash curler?

The beauty of this treatment is you won't need to. A well done lash-lift provides you with perfectly lifted and curled lashes with no fuss. A lot of lash curlers tend to trim or crimp and damage your hair unlike the Yumi Lash Lift.

 TrueBrow

What is TrueBrow?

TrueBrow is an internationally recognised system for giving clients their perfect brows. We do not use any form of tattooing, we do not use any serums nor extensions, we work with the natural brow and we work hair by hair to design it to perfection. Where possible we rebuild the brows

Our main aim is to design brows that transform the woman. That can offer her an instant 'eye lift,' open her face up and add softness to her features.

What do TrueBrow Specialists do and what makes TrueBrow different to an ordinary brow wax?

TrueBrow is natural brow design where students spend years learning and perfecting their expertise in a mastery-based training program. The training gives specialists the ability to create a unique vision for your brows. We work with your own brow hairs by tweezing, trimming, tinting and waxing to give you the most beautiful brow you can have without micro-blading, tattooing or staining the skin.

The Education at TrueBrow is the most comprehensive in the world and the results speak for themselves. This system is a world first; we look at the brow differently, we understand the true path to restoration, we use cutting-edge techniques other brow artists are not trained in. The program is created to ensure success. We are dedicated to offering you the most feminine, soft and sophisticated brows imaginable.

How long will it take for my brows to grow back?

Brow growth varies person to person. For a brow that has been particularly compromised, damaged or misshaped in the past, it can be an extended process to restore - anywhere between 6-12 months for a full restoration. In saying that, we are often happily surprised with the remarkable changes we see in just a few visits to our studio. Like many women who have received restoration through the TrueBrow System, you must be patient and trust the process.

Even though the natural restoration may take a little time, you can experience the look of restoration instantly with the TrueBrow Collection.

What if my brows don't grow back?

If for some reason you feel like your brows are not growing back, we are able to assess them through the photos that we take in your first appointment. Regardless, your brow shape will drastically improve and you will not be losing any hair, only gaining all that is possible.

So, is TrueBrow like brow tattooing?

At Authentica Australia, we've done our research. We have consulted with medical professionals and with former brow-tattooists, plus we've seen it for ourselves in the women we meet everyday. We've come to the conclusion that brow tattooing/microblading, may not be the best option for everyone.

We believe there are other options that will enhance your natural beauty you so much more and we believe in TrueBrow. With TrueBrow you will not see discolouration, uneven fading, tattoo bleeding, or scarring. Keep in mind hair cant grow through the scar tissue that comes with brow tattooing.

TrueBrow is soft, feminine, natural and elegant; it is not a trend. It is is timeless and a program we believe produces far better results.

Is any maintenance required with TrueBrow?

To maintain the initial design that we achieved during your first TrueBrow appointment and continue on your path to brow restoration, we suggest you have a fortnightly TrueBrow Maintenance appointment. The main purpose of this appointment is to offer you the most beautiful brows every day of the year.

Brow Lamination

What is brow lamination?

Brow lamination originates from Russia and has become increasingly popular in the Western beauty community, now being showcased by our favourite top models. Brow lamination will set your brows in place and have you always looking well kept. No need for brow gel that does not hold, brow lamination is strong and long lasting. It is incredibly versatile and can assist in achieving numerous looks.

It will tame unruly brows as well as give the illusion of fuller, feathered, brushed up brows. We are seeing an increase in demand for this service as a lot of women turn to lamination who would have previously done brow tattooing or microblading, which is a more permanent route.

Am I a good candidate for brow lamination?

Want fuller, thicker, and brushed up looking brows? Then brow lamination is for you. If you are struggling with unruly, wild or curly brows, this is the perfect step.

Who brow lamination is not recommended for?

It is not recommended for those who have extreme skin sensitivity, people who have dermatitis or eczma or for those who are using a strong retinol skincare product on a regular basis.

Brow lamination is not recommended for those who are looking for brow restorations, or for those with thin, few or sparse brow hair. Instead, if you are looking to thicken up your brows, it is recommended that you book a brow tint or a TrueBrow design.

How long does it last?

Your brows will stay laminated for up to 8 weeks depending on your natural hair cycle.

How should I prepare for my brow lamination appointment?

Put down the tweezers. The more brow hair to work with, the better the result will be. It is recommend allowing your brows to grow for a month so that we can see your full brow potential.

How do I look after my newly laminated brows?

There is minimal aftercare when it comes to brow lamination, but there are still some essential steps to follow. This will help you get the most out of the treatment.

For the first 24 hours, do not get your brows wet, do not touch them and do not apply makeup to them. After the first 24 hours the only thing that we recommend doing is using your Yumi Nourish serum on them, for the same reasons as you would if you got a lash lift. We Use Yumi Brows for our brow lamination, a treatment that enriches the hair with keratin. Even though our lamination is gentle, it still alters the hairs. The Nourish serum protects the hair integrity and keeps your brows healthy and hydrated.
